Under the T1.1, The University of Teramo, Zadar and the Ionian University jointly conducted researches on existing historical documents, pilgrim travel, archival documents, cartographic material, archaeological results of underwater and land excavations to shape the so-called “ADRION Charter routes from antiquity to modern times”: a monograph about the ancient maritime routes in the Adriatic-Ionian area. A scientific research that also takes into account contributions from the natural sciences field like oceanography, hydrography, meteorology, geomagnetism, geography whose findings are extremely important since they largely conditioned the dynamics and direction of navigation.
The final Monograph relies on the collaboration of many others universities and institutions like the University of Padua, the University for Foreigners of Siena, “G.D’Annunzio” University in Pescara, the so-called Institute for electromagnetic sensing of the environment (IREA) and the Ibn Haldun University.
