Few days ago Maritime museum hosted the presentation of the pilot project and the press tour as a part of APPRODI, organised by DURA and aimed at historic and geo-archeological research of medieval breakwater Kaše in the context of Old port of Dubrovnik.

Mia Hrnić from DURA introduces the attendants with the general goals and partners of the project, and the maritime archaeologist Irena Radić Rossi presented the results of the research through a lecture and a tour to the nearest part of Kaše breakwater.

‘Within the framework of the archeological study of the Kaše breakwater we have unearthed a part of the breakwater we were not aware existed. After the initial probe into the inner side of breakwater, we ascertained that we would have to conduct a thorough archeological exploration before any building works take place. Thanks to the case study made as a part of APPRODI project we know that the archeological study of Kaše is necessary as it has not been conducted beforehand – not on the visible part, and especially not on the unseen part either,’ pointed Irena Radić Rossi.
