The Approdi pilot case in Corfù focuses on the promotion and valorization of the ancient harbors of Paleopolis & Kassiopi, two important archeological sites bearing witness to the old maritime history of the city.

The main scope of the pilot case is the creation of a tourist path concerning all the significant monuments and historical landmarks of the island, harbors included. New technologies and methodologies are implemented in order to lower the impact on the existing cultural heritage. For instance, a web GIS map shows and highlights the common history of the monuments involved. Additionally, small scale interventions are made by placing a series of QR code tourist panels and signs to inform tourists about the attractions and boost their experience.

All these activities aim at stimulating new forms of cultural tourism by having the active participation of local stakeholders and local community.
